Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?
No. Vic’s Clock requires no registration or sign-in.

Do I have to allow location access?
No. You can enter coordinates manually. Location permission is only needed if you want to use your device’s current location.

Why does the app use the internet?
The app asks GeoNames for the time zone at your selected coordinates. If the request fails, it uses a previously saved time zone for those coordinates or an approximation in 15-degree steps without daylight saving time. The clock and its astronomical calculations run locally.

Where are my favorites and images stored?
They are stored on your device. A selected background image is copied into the app’s storage and is not uploaded by Vic’s Clock.
